My companion is pretty cool. His name is Elder Blattman, He is from Huston Texas and lived in Sweden for two years. He is really good at the language already, which was really an answer to my prayers. I was really worried about the language, but him knowing the language has allowed me to have my own personal trainer. However, sometimes we don't always connect very well. We have different interest, different tastes, and different backgrounds. He's my companion however, and we have really been able to get along with each other. He has really been a blessing.
The food here is good. I try not to eat a lot. Mostly because sometimes the food doesn't agree with you. It's crazy, I think the MTC offers the most prayers in one place than anywhere in the world. We pray in the morning when we wake up, and at breakfast. We pray before gym, then class, then end of class. We pray at lunch and dinner. We pray everywhere, and all the time! Right now I'm sure there are at lest 50 prayers being said.
There are a total of 16 Swedish missionaries, those being split into two districts. District A and C. I'm am in District C so there are a total 8 missionaries in my district. They are all pretty awesome. We have gotten to know each other really well. We are always laughing and making jokes. One Elder is from Canada so we do a lot of Canadian jokes. My district is the people I spend most of my time with. We are all in our own class together. My teachers name is Brother Cheney. He served his mission in Sweden and all he does is talk to us in Swedish. He is engaged to be married and he does ballroom dance at BYU. There are 4 Districts in our Zone. It's made of Nords and Swedes as they call us. (Norway and Sweden). Our Zone is like people in our hall. It's cool because I kinda understand the Norwegian Language. Then we have like 2 or 3 zones in our Branch. Our Branch is like our Ward. We have only one sister in our Branch. Yep. Other people have Sister missionaries in their district, we only have one sister missionary in a branch of about 52 missionaries!
Its cool, because at Gym time we are just right in the field in front of the temple. We play soccer, and volleyball, and four square right in front of the temple. The MTC is awesome because everyone is so nice and welcoming. Its strange to walk around and hear so many different kinds of languages. Many of them I haven't even heard of! The MTC is also funny becuse you don't know anyone's first names. I know Elder Blattmans, but I don't know anyone else in my district. Then its weird when you hear their first name.
In the MTC we have "investigators" that we teach. I've already taught 4 lessons to my investigator, Marc. I know that he is a fake investigator but it feels so real! You go into a room with him and your companion, you sit on couches and teach him. I've learned about his life and the needs he has. We talk and pray about the lessons we should teach him. And we have to do it all in Swedish! Okay I don't want to brag but we already set a baptismal date with him! No other missionaries who are teaching him have been able to do that, and we did it in 4 lessons! We have a bit of an unfair advantage because Elder Blattman knows the language. But the spirit was so strong in our last lesson! It was such a cool experience, even if it all wasn't real, the investigator still goes off the spirit.
I have learned that with God, all things can be made possible. My prayers have been answered, and I know this is what I am suppose to be doing.
Much Love,
Elder Geoffrey Goffe
