This week has been a really good week. We spent almost every day visiting members and speaking with them about our ward mission plan and getting them excited about the Easter initiative: The Prince of Peace. This is the first time that I have been in a Ward during my mission so there are plenty of members to visit. They are all so great here. There are a lot of great families here. They are from all over as well. We have some individuals from China, Thailand, Spain, Peru, and Denmark. Then we have quite a few members from America as well. So it has been fun to visit them all. It really helps me see how this gospel really does improve one's life.
This week we found a new super cool investigator from Umeå. Well, I guess he found us. We were on the train on our way to visit a member and a Swedish man started talking to me. Which is totally weird for a Swede. Anyway, He asked me if I was the Mormon, and said that he has been a part of several different churches but they all just don't seem to fit. His name is Jon and he wanted to meet with us so I got his number and we met with him on Thursday and taught him the restoration. We had a really good lesson, he is like one of the most prepared Swedes I have ever met. However, he did mention that he is a very indecisive guy, so it might take some time with him. But he is super nice and hopefully not too busy. But I will keep you updated on him.
Ando watched general conference with us! Not just one, but four sessions of general conference! On Saturday night he watched the Saturday morning session live with us. Then Sunday morning we had breakfast at a member’s house and watched the Saturday afternoon session. Then he came with us to watch the priesthood session, then he even went to the stake center to watch the Sunday morning without us. So that is super good! He really liked conference and the passion that the speakers had. So that is super awesome. He says that he is still waiting for an answer though. Which is confusing because he is definitely feeling something throughout conference or he wouldn't have come for all of them. Anyway, we are just going to keep moving forward.
General Conference was great and I am happy to hear that you all watched it. There really are so many talks that were great and it is really hard to just find one that stood out from the rest. But there are a few quotes that I liked:
The world sees birth and death as the beginning and the end. But because of God’s holy plan, we know that birth and death are actually just milestones on our journey to eternal life with our Heavenly Father. - Elder Weatherford T. Clayton
Sometimes we have to let go of the world to hold on to eternity. - Elder Gary B. Sabin
God’s greatest reward goes to those who serve without expectation of reward. It goes to those who serve without fanfare; those who quietly go about seeking ways to help others; those who minister to others simply because they love God and God’s children. - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
I haven't watched the Saturday Afternoon session yet so I am excited to find time to watch that. It is so cool that we have living Prophets and Apostles on earth today to lead us and guide us. I hope you get study them more.
Well there aren't many photos this week sorry. Hopefully I will have more for next week. Love you all! Also don't forget to watch the prince of peace video!
