Cold, Very Cold. But the Work Keeps Going

It's been cold. Every Day. It's amazing how the cold can pierce right through five layers of clothing. I have been wearing thermals, white shirt, sweater, scarf, hat, 2 jackets, 2 gloves and 2 pairs of socks, yet it feels like the cold goes right through it all. It was about -22 degrees C on Wednesday and Saturday which is about -8 degrees F. It's been a tough week. Nobody wants to talk to you on the street because it's too cold. Most people don't want to talk to us at their doors because it then let’s all the warm air out of their houses. We just keep working however, because I found that when we are out working in such cold weather people start to wonder, "What is so important about their message that they are out in negative degree weather?" The truth is this message we bring to people about the restored gospel is life changing. It saves lives and brings families together forever. Many missionaries in the scriptures have endured harder things. That's why we still go out! Because I know this message is important! Also, all of this hard work has been worth it because guess what? I got a Baptismal date! His name is Karl-Gustav! He agreed to be baptized on Feb 20; which could mean that I am transferred before then, but I know we will get him ready!

I guess that's how it is. Blessings come after the trail of our faith. Of course it's been a hard week. But, the fact that we kept pushing forward in faith is what gave us blessings. In fact we taught another man this week named Gabriel and he also agreed to be baptized! We didn't get a date with him yet but he said that he believes that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true! I also went on splits with Äldste Liddle in the other Elder's area and the guy we taught there also agreed to be baptized on Feb 20!  Also my investigator Sven has been off of nicotine for 18 days now! It's amazing how even though it's been freezing cold, we have still had a lot of success this week. So I guess I could say that all is well!

I also got to tell President Beckstrand about the Farm in my interview! He was super excited! He said he couldn't exactly remember the house but after I described it to him he remembered it! Said it will be cool to have that connection with me after the mission. He wanted me to send pictures of it this week. The farm sounds like a lot of Fun! I have been reading the Book of Mormon a lot lately (as I should be). I am in Alma 47 and I am loving it! Let me tell you I LOVE the Book of Mormon. It really is full of great stuff about good people and bad people. It's awesome.
